oh and with that link i sent of the 30mw green laser modul all i would have to do it hook it up to 3v battery and its good to go?
Noooo. Hooking straight up to a battery will kill your diode after not long man.
Batteries put out current spikes and they will blow the diode. You need to make up a small constant current supply aka a driver. Like I said earlier, do a search on ddl drivers. They consist of an LM317, a couple of resistors, a pot, and a capacitor. Super easy to make, and you can adjust your current for different power output.. You will need a multimeter and a decent soldering iron.

Looked at the link again and you are correct. My bad. Yeah that module has a driver tacked on there already so it should be good to go.
I bought a 5mW module of ebay and it got through to aus fine.. Dont know about a 30, but I dont think they would look at the ratings.. They would probably just be looking for fully made lasers and such
