"Overkill" New 1.5'' Piston valve in progress! Vid
I felt the need to show you all this photo:
The 2'' valve is in progress! The weld for the 2'' nipple to the chamber is on Monday.
The valve seat/barrel port, is held in by epoxy (my new best friend) I poured the epoxy into the gap between the Hose barb, and the T, a good 1'' of epoxy is filling the small space between the barb and the T. Hope it holds.
The piston is also done, it is made from HDPE and has a grove for an O-ring.

Yes, the barrel will most likely be 2.5'' for tennis balls, but of course they will be interchangeable with many pipe sizes. Just in case i want to put a 2'' SS barrel on it and destroy whole cities with 1000PSI. I'm only joking about the cities....

Wow, thats going to be incredible! I can't wait to see bouncy balls flying around the world
You could have done what I did for the QDV body... put some heat-shrink tubing with 2" outer diameter in the tee with a nipple threaded in each end, then pour epoxy into it...

In all serious, hybrids are a drug. Just came back from firing Mjollnir and it's like being incapacitated with that much adrenaline rushing through your body
As for the epoxied hose barb barrel seat, I'm sure it will hold. I did something similar on Mjollnir except I threaded a nipple 15mm in to the back of a bushing and epoxied about 10mm over the joint and it hasn't failed nor leaked.

Glad to know someone has had good luck with epoxied nipples. (hehehe) MrC what size is your hybrids porting?

This is starting to look interesting. I have one quick comment on the location of the valve seat in the T. It looks centered which at first thought looks right. For best flow, I would think the center of the T should be more open to flow. For example when the valve is open, the gap between the piston and valve seat should be centered so the opening from the chamber is centered for best flow. Since only the piston moves and not the seat, this would place the valve seat off center.
If the nipple was trimmed down so it only reached 1/3 of the way into the T and the piston when open also reached 1/3 the way into the T, the center 1/3rd would be centered in the opening to the chamber for best flow.
It will work where it is, so since it is glued into position, I wouldn't tear it apart to make changes.

You will all be glad to know that the tank is at the welders, getting the 2" nipple welded on. I should have it back in a few days.
Tech, I believe you are correct, but the way it is now should work ok. The air has plenty of room to flow into the nipple, I think most of the performance loss would be due to turbulence.
Like you said, it's epoxied already, and wouldent be very easy to trim. Lol.
Edit: the nipple extends slighty less than 1/2 way into the T. Even though The camera angle seems to suggest otherwise.
Valve as is, next to a penny for scale.
