Not sure if this was posted before but it's an exhaustive study of airsoft ballistics, nicely done and proof if any was needed that airsoft BBs are a terrible choice of ballistic projectile :)

Really shows the importance of the hop-up. But atleast they're a google times cheaper than paintballs.

We all knew that one but there's (arguably) no better choice for recreation because of their low cost. And the fact that you can easily take advantage of the Magnus effect to get respectable ranges from such a low velocity (aka safe) projectile. Plus simple loading mechanisms and such...

Yup, otherwise range and wind estimation would have to be perfect.
We all knew that one but there's (arguably) no better choice for recreation because of their low cost.
Definitely, not arguing with that - but if you're plinking, certainly one of the worst choices.

Isn't plinking just field shooting a bulk amount of ammo? If so that seems to be the cheapest decently good ammo to waste.
