Love that look, nice one F1. 8)
Here are my 2 new projects.
upload to album
The small one is going to be my friends cannon.
The other is mine...aka Pistolero.
Both will have all joins brazed/welded and will be framed out.
1/2 qev is huge compared to the 1/4 on my Cecchino.
Both will have 2 barrels each, one for BB's and one breeched for darts and anything else that can fit.
Mocked up for now, once the hpa tanks are on they will be ready to go.

First failed project...no matter what i tried i never managed to get the QEV to seal, so its now binned and moving on.
I spent almost as long trying to get this single chamber cannon to work as i did on my first pneumatic..the qev mods sound very straight forward and simple..but yeah i never managed it.
Little embarrassing now because one was supposed to be for a friend.
Anyway i will have to build a compact cannon but with 2 chambers now, not what i wanted at all so back to the drawing board....

So the pressure in the tank goes up into the QEV A port and round through the slide valve into the P port ? or is there a break/plug in the pipework at the back ? I have seen a diagram with a oneway valve as well.
Would this work

Hi F1...yeah was trying to fill through A and through the 3-way into P.farcticox1 wrote:So the pressure in the tank goes up into the QEV A port and round through the slide valve into the P port ? or is there a break/plug in the pipework at the back ? Not sure why it doesn't fill, i can hear air escaping..
I'll just twin chamber it, will be more fun anyway.
EDIT-Oh that picture you posted F1...how exactly does that work..?
It looks as though it would work..but i don't understand what the blow gun does..if it needs a hammer valve then thats out of my league.
Does the blow gun need to be modded?
At least the qev wont need to be modded so thats great.
That gauge i would have at the front of the chamber, the rest looks great...

The blowgun is the trigger, it dumps the P port to atmosphere, which triggers the QEV. I will have to make up a test assembly to make sure it works.

Im not sure how the blow gun works if there is no air behind it to push the valve of the qev?farcticox1 wrote:The blowgun is the trigger, it dumps the P port to atmosphere, which triggers the QEV. I will have to make up a test assembly to make sure it works.
I can see that the blow gun is the trigger...but what is the trigger actually doing if there is no air behind it?
The more i look at it..i cant see it working.
Is there anyone here that can tell me if that design will work please?
EDIT-Im going twin chamber again, spent a week trying to mod 2 qev's and failed miserably so twin chambers it has to be...still can't believe i never managed to get it going...
It doesn't push the QEV anywhere. The piston goes forward as you fill the chamber from the P port, then when you pull the blowgun, air is released from the P port, the pressure differential between A and P forces the piston open. That's the simplest way to get any QEV or piston valve working.

I tried doing the blow gun at the start with a constant feed from an air compressor, it never worked...i still can't see how it would work for P has no chamber.
If P has no chamber...i can't see where its getting it's air from, unless the qev is modded and the air is coming from A.
Will simply build something i know that will work, that picture makes no sense to me still im afraid.
I wanted to build a small compact single chamber cannon....after ruining 2 1/2" QEV's i wont be going for a 3rd time lucky.

I rigged up a small test assembly, only a small chamber but it did work fine, it dumped the whole chamber though, maybe just because it so small. I just used a small air cylinder.
P doesn't need a chamber, it just needs to see pressure or no pressure(vent to atmosphere).
Here's a good explanation, I watched it a few times when I built my first one to get my head around how to.
1/P is the fill/trigger valve, 2/A is the chamber, 3/R is the barrel.

Thanks F1.
If P doesn't need a chamber..where is its air coming from?
I need pics F1, that video..i dont get it because its not showing me the whole picture.
If there is a cannon built the same way a pic of that would be nice.
On another sad note the Palmers regulator arrived yesterday, it's not what i was expecting...photos are deceiving.
My first week of building went great, now everything is going wrong, 2xQEV's ruined and a $90 reg i can't even use.
Might have to take a step back i think....
