I’m building an air powered golf ball launcher. My barrel is 2inches and it’s too big so the air escapes around the golf ball. I can’t find the right size pipe. Is there any way I can work with what I have? I was thinking about glueing Bristol board around the inside of the barrel.

Sdr21 pvc pipe has an ID that's perfect for golf balls. I had to call around a few hardware stores to find one that carries it however (Canada). As mentioned, sabots are good but take time to make. I usually use Styrofoam cut with a hole saw that matches my barrel ID or simply rags stuffed around the projectile

1.5" EMT Electrical Conduit Pipe usually fits a golf ball pretty well. You'll need to make an adapter of some form for it to work though.

European 50mm PN16 PVC pipe has an inner diameter of 42.6mm while a golfball has a diameter of 42.67mm. A nice snug fit

I fold a double layer of T-shirt material over the front of the golf balls. Works well with the 44mm internal diameter of my barrel.

That's pretty nice damage!
Could you share the design of your launcher?

Another good barrel is 1.5" sch 10 pipe. ID = 1.682"

It's pricey, but it's absolutely perfect.

That would make a good barrel, lite weight for easy aiming.

Related to tubing for barrels, when looking into this myself I found these which would be great for those that don’t have access to welding. I had contacted them And was told the pressure rating is 1500 psi so would be suitable for even higher mix hybrids.

that link took me to a 1/4: " flare...

I made a barrel by sleeving 2-1/2 with 2" I cut a piece out of. It worked great but I do not encourage anyone to ever build one. It was way to much work. I probably meesed up the pressure rating of the sleeve too.

Huh, link works for me. Picture looks kinda like a general one of a smaller fitting but they have them in both 1-1/2” and 2” sizes as well as the typical smaller sizes. They’re compression type fittings.
