Partly full 20oz CO2 tank shot with a 0.303" Enflield. The noise from the tank explosion sounded louder that the rifle report even through ear protection, and the tank was found around 100 feet from the impact point...

Glad that was intentional, I thought that was a catastrophic failure

I'm getting the urge to build something different, double barrel flintlock style pistol with 2 spring loaded ball valves and a 2 stage trigger.

I haven’t been active in a while, but I’m still here! Decided to throw together a simple, efficient, and solid launcher for old times sake.

I’ve also just purchased a lulzbot mini for some 3d printing projects for my other hobbies, but I hope to find some more “destructive” uses for it as well, so stay tuned

I hadn't seen that think I'll try a single barrel first, this spring loaded ball valve thing looks like it could work welljackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Some inspiration from one of the forum's finest membersfarcticox1 wrote:I'm getting the urge to build something different, double barrel flintlock style pistol with 2 spring loaded ball valves and a 2 stage trigger.

Good stuff, love the reload mechanism! That looks like it will throw a golf ball pretty far.Lockednloaded wrote:I haven’t been active in a while, but I’m still here! Decided to throw together a simple, efficient, and solid launcher for old times sake.
If you want to impress the imgur plebs you're going need to throw in some destruction gifs though

Thanks JSR! I didn’t expect anyone outside these hallowed halls to see it, but the single random commenter gave me a little bit of hope. In the “decline” of this site’s activity, I think socially minded image hosting sites like imgur may be a helpful resource to draw in some curious new members. I agree that I’ll need some WIP and damage shots to really catch people’s eyes, but I think it’d be a step in the right direction for members to use imgur or reddit to responsibly advertise our hobby to the masses.
I’m just now getting the printer running consistently on PLA, but I think once I get some other plastics sighted in as well, this most recent cannon will be a great platform for some 3d printed exotic ammunition types

I have mixed feelings about this in the sense that if you're browsing imgur or reddit, you probably don't have a very productive life, likely bored at work or wasting away your free time. Someone makes something cool and presents it, you post a half-witted comment that could probably be generated by a bot at this point, get meaningless internet karma and that gives you enough dopamine to get through the day, wash, rinse, repeat. On the other hand, if even one misguided youngster sees it and gets inspired to try out a new hobby, then ultimately it's worth the effort.Lockednloaded wrote:I think socially minded image hosting sites like imgur may be a helpful resource to draw in some curious new members. Tremendous video of catastrophic failure of air gun of the PCP type, occurred in 2015.
I leave it for those who have not seen it. I see that he has completely pierced this man's leg, a horror! I learned something else with this, I hope everyone.

Wow, they admit it was still charged to 2000psi, and it was actually a modified Co2 gun.

They're using a HIPAC which is supposed to be able to take the pressure, though looking at the way it's made, if not installed properly it would put the full pressure in the CO2 tube and cause the sort of blowout they described.farcticox1 wrote:Wow, they admit it was still charged to 2000psi, and it was actually a modified Co2 gun.

I think the biggest comment was why didn't you degas? And they said we weren't working on the gas system, but admitted there was something wrong with it and they were investigating.
To me that's just bad practice
